Milan, June 11. An Assembly to Relaunch a Working-class, Internationalist Initiative against Imperialist War in Ukraine – RIT, CF, CYF, Iskra

Milan, June 11, Assembly to relaunch a working-class, internationalist initiative against imperialist war in Ukraine

The ongoing war between the U.S.-OTAN-EU bloc and the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory is experiencing an unrelenting escalation with unpredictable outcomes. On the terrain, hundreds of thousands of soldiers are fighting a bloody conflict with terrible destruction of lives and environment, thus giving an idea of what an apocalyptic catastrophe could be, for humanity and nature, a new world war in the middle of the 21st century.

The governments of the Euro-Atlantic imperialist bloc are furiously pushing for the slaughter to continue and to spread “to the last Ukrainian,” sending massive amounts of military aid in every form – up to and including supplying of uranium projectiles and the reaffirmation of the “first strike” doctrine with respect to the use of the U.S. atomic weapons. The war propaganda of Putin and the Russian government are no less, and they express the clear will to continue the war until its objectives are achieved, underlying of the strategically considered decision to secure the interests of their own bourgeoisie in this way.

The ongoing war clash in Ukraine increasingly appears as a moment of epochal turning point, in which the inter-imperialist competition for control of resources, infrastructure and trade routes, markets and strategic territories descends militarily on an enormous scale, with the all-out confrontation between the U.S. attempt to maintain its apex position and the will on the part of a new bloc being formation around China and Russia to assert a new international order.

It is, at the same time, a war with heavy repercussions even on the workers of countries that, for now, do not have own troops massively in the field. A frantic global arms race has begun with gigantic plans for military expenditures, with which all countries are trying to make themselves as ready as possible for every contingency in a context of rapid dislocation of forces between and within imperialist blocs.

The transition to a new “multipolar” world order will in no way be peaceful and painless. Those who support it, express a position opposed to the interests of the proletariat and the oppressed masses around the globe: a “multipolar” world, structurally made up of imperialist camps in heated and constant competition with each other, will produce an increasingly acute tendency to war, and a global deterioration of the living and working conditions of the working class.

Italy, i.e. Italian imperialism, is an integral and active part of this process of global inter-capitalist confrontation. The war-war propaganda-war economy dynamic goes increasingly hand in hand with the intensification of the anti-proletarian attack on the “home front”: unlimited aggression of the bosses in the workplaces and in the labour market, propaganda manoeuvres in favour of the petty-bourgeoisie, state crimes against emigrants and immigrants, ubiquitous police intervention wherever there are real labour and social conflicts, “exemplary” sentences against anarchist militants, obscene re-proposition of an ideology and model of the “traditional family”, which is radically hostile to women.

They change the executives, the composition of parliaments changes, but our enemy is always here, at “our home”: it is the Italian imperialist capitalism and the alliances in which it is embedded.

Against imperialism at our home, and to revive the protagonism of the proletariat and the working class within this global scenario, we must resume the struggle. The recent massive strike movements and labour demonstrations in France, Britain and Greece are very significant signs of awakening.

After the important discussion promoted by the October 16 anti-war conference in Rome, where we have clarified and denounced the imperialist nature of the war in Ukraine, and the demonstration against the Meloni government, against NATO and the EU on December 3 where we gave legs to the working-class and internationalist positions against the war, the time has come to vigorously relaunch the initiative against the imperialist war in Ukraine and the trend toward a new world massacre.

On June 11 in Milan, we are calling together in a national assembly all social, political, and trade union organizations, as well as individual militants willing to fight together with us to relaunch the working-class, internationalist initiative against the imperialist war, and bring it consciously to life in the context of the mobilizations of the coming months.
